OOTD : Daisy Duck tights

Hi buds!

I'm being busy for a few days, so my apologies if I'm not visiting blogs. I will catch up after few days :)
I just decided to make a quickie post and share this ebay bargain with you :). As a fan of tattoo tights and as a gigantic lifetime- fan of Disney and especially the duck fellows, I got highly attracted to those Daisy Duck tights (ebay seller  here ans they didn't really let me down when they arrived, I think they are super cute. They would match with a lot of stuff- I guess they would look the best with a dress, but they brightened up this outfit (that is actually bit boring otherwise ><) as well.
Note: I do not like blazers. I can stand wearing this specific (vintage) one for the material being jersey, the stripes and the pink birds and the star (I have attached the birdies and the star by my self), but usually blazers - not my stuff. They make me look grown up which is a very false image! (I sometimes try to wear them, and people often compliment me wearing them, but I don't feel at home with blazers :/)

Btw I spilled a broken black eyeshadow all over my face and all over the floor, so if my make up looks silly that is  the reason  one of the reasons.

These, like most asian tights, are sized for people who are 165 cm tall or under, but these are really stretchy so they fit my 173 cm with no probs. These are pretty thin material and I really hope they will not break anytime soon :). Washed already once and the tights didn't get screwed up and the pattern stayed fine.

OOTD:
Tights : ebay
Blazer: vintage
Bag: vintage
Shorts : DIY of old Diesel jeans
Shoes: Random from Japan

Would you wear crazy tattoo tights like these?
Have you been- or perhaps are you still- a fan of Disney characters?

Have a happy weekend everyone :)

Your best age is now.

HI buds!

Some time ago I did dig out a pic of me -aged 20. It's over here. Xcuse for the tacky editing and bad quality, it's just a snapshot of a film camera pic (we didn't have digi cameras by then, lol :)
That was over 10 years ago, I guess it was year 1999.

Anyways- when I saw this pic I was like damn I looked good. Okay, my hair was a giant mess- but unlike now, I had a thick big healthy hair! Unlike now, physically I was in super condition, and my skin looked glowing. Of coz, the 1st thing that came into my mind was "dang, why I don't look like that any more!?".

The society idealizes young women (I raged about this to my husband some time ago, poor him). At my current age (over 30) or even earlier, many women start to take botox injections, fillers and whatever minor (or major) treatments and operations there are. Nope, I do not judge people who go for treatments, but for me using those would be a giant hassle. Perhaps I will think about it again after 15 or 20 years, or then I will just keep looking my age.

Okay, I might have a minor crisis about aging, but would I like to be 20 again? Nope.
I can think of the cool sides of being 20 - I had not that much worries, I looked great when I woke up in the mornings, I could experiment with make up without it getting stuck into my lines, I had "the right" to act stupid (people don't expect that mature behavior from an young person), I was well aware of my ability to be charming when I wanted to, I knew how to have fun, the life was all in front of me - I didn't have to make commitments since I could think about everything later. I had endless energy and a very fearless and adventurous mind - that is something I miss.

But that's not all. In my 20's I was dang insecure. And shallow. (I'm still very vain but I wouldn't say I'm shallow.) I worked as a model for some time, and I was feeling bad every time I was on the stage or being photographed. I considered myself fat (it was the end of the 90's and the golden age of skinny models) altho' I was _skinny_. I considered my face horrid compared to the other models, and sometimes I'd get horrible feedback from the make up artists or my bosses, not to mention some other models. It was no fun! I could also be really mean at times since I didn't understand what I say / do was mean. Lack of experience and emotional IQ.
I would take any stupid comment from a stupid boyfriend really personally and feel like I'm the lowest, ugliest creature on earth. I didn't have the confidence to go for the hobbies that I would have liked.
In short - I looked good, but I wasn't that happy with myself.

Over 10 years has passed from these times and I have been thru a lot, done good things and bad things- and grown as a person, at least a little bit.
I know that it's fun to look good, but my looks do not define my value as a person. My work, my status or other things like that will not value me as a person.
It's myself who values myself as a person - if I don't give credit to myself, none will do, and I need to do things that I value to have some credit to give myself.
People who like me, will like my looks as well - beauty lies in the eyes of beholder.
I'm still insecure but that has more to do with my flaws as a person than my looks and the good thing is that developing myself as a person makes more sense- and is more natural than boosting my looks artificially.
The pressure from society - that's my pet peeve. I love being the old gal who gives a crap about the rules. The only rules I care about are ethics and law. No fashion rules for me, no dressing my age. I buy my clothes from the teens department. I still climb trees in public. I collect fashion dolls, action figures and other toys. I have no idea what I will be when I grow up.
People who judge - let them do that. It's their prob anyway if hurt their eyes :).

And still, if we talk about looks, I'm sure that in my 50's I'll look at the pics of me around my 30's and think "Dang, I looked great". In my 70's I will say that about my 50 years old self. It's about the perspective :)
perhaps I will read this text, laugh and think "Omigosh, that Lara in her 30's was so stupid!"

The point of this text is to express that we should enjoy when we are young, but we shouldn't stop enjoying when we are grown ups. Life is not about pleasing others or being approved by some society standards.
Life comes with duties, but duties are to keep your life on it's pace -not to be the purpose of your life.
Life is about you and the things that you love - I wish I knew this when I was 20.
So don't waste your youth worrying about if you are good enough or not - and never think you are too old for something you want to do, coz you will not get any younger.
xo,

L

Hi people!

Hope you are good! I can't decide if I'm fine or bad, the weather is okay and nothing is really wrong but the renovation in our house bugs the hell out of me and not least coz I worry about the iguana... The window is covered so he cannot see out (seeing out is one of his fave activities) and besides they drill all days long..  (◣◢)┌∩┐ Yesterday DJ was moody and I was so tired with that renovation that I was actually crying, today it's been better coz they didn't drill and DJ seemed happy and active.
Anytime soon we will take a break with DJ and go off for few days, somewhere where he can get natural sunlight.

Erm, I was about to say that hope this post will not end up as a rant, but seems like it will (`_っ´).

As I said couple of posts ago, I'm pretty much out of inspiration to dress up -.-. I guess I have regressed to the era when I only wore band tees, jeans and sneakers and everything pretty like jewellery, dresses, styling my hair, doing a proper make up and such are a giant hassle (this often happens when I am a bit stressed and this is the case right now also). I'm on my "safe, domestic style mode", wearing something I have been used to.
However, I'm wearing what I feel comfy about right now, not gonna force myself to be all dressy when I feel like slacking off.. so trying to make an easy-going style to look nice with very little effort.
I updated my old signature style (a band tee, shorts and sneakers) with the lace tights coz my legs are bruised and scratched by the iguana ≧◔◡◔≦ .. and actually they do give some girly edge to the dude-ish outfit. This oufit is actually really basic, but imo this stuff usually works :)

My hair is growing out, it's been how long? 1 or 2 months? Since I did cut it short and now it feels a bit overgrown, but I want to grow it long so I'm not cutting it plus I avoid shampooing daily. I have had this vice to neurotically wash my hair every day (it sure wears out the hair) but now I discovered such thing as dry shampoo. I used dry shampoo sometime in the 90's and it was horrible icky icky goo that smelled like poison and made hair even more dirty but obviously they make better stuff now since it made my hair fresher on a shampoo-free day and besides gave a nice, voluminous base for a backcombed look. I usually avoid backcombing coz I loathe hair spray and most other sticky styling products, but the dry shampoo worked as a treat and gave an appropiate messy look.

One of my fave (and very few, anyways) watches (who remembers the tune up - tv from the 80's (≧◡≦)!? )  Btw I painted my nails 2 different colors yay, how smart!

OOTD :
Top: some men's tee, I have chopped the sleeves off. Bought from some random place.
Shorts. James (vintage)
Tights: H&M
Sneakers: MicMac
Watch: D&G
Sunnies: Glitter

As someone might know, I like collecting dolls and recently I have fallen more and more for Monster High. Before I collected only vintage dolls and those that are actually for collectors, like Blythe, but Monster High are so cute that I needed to buy a couple. I got one last summer, and yesterday the 2nd one, Draculaura arrived and her pet bat arrived too. They are quite expensive so I look for loose ones on ebay, much cheaper that way. Too bad these didn't exist when I was a kid, I would have loved these!

We're about to have the midsummer festival and white night in Finland, that is next weekend. Means that the sun doesn't go down at all, whole nite. Usually people go to summer cottages or countryside, cities are often pretty dead altho' there is some celebration in some hidden place in the city, too. There are bonfires and people are boozing which actually sounds like a scary combo ⁀⊙﹏☉⁀.

Okay, I guess I have written enuff of nonsense (this post sounds like my personal diary but well d'oh so be it).

Catch you again ^^

PS. I love Pink Floyd

Hello and happy Midsummer fest to those who celebrate.
I'll be off to celebrating very soon which means I will not be blogging for several days (well you ain't missing much, not being brainy / interesting /stylish at all these days ≧◔◡◔≦) I will be back and improve.

Now it's also my blogging birthday. I started my style blog (rocketraptor) one year ago. Then I switched the addy and made a new blog sometime later coz rocketraptor.blogspot.com did sometimes lead to another user O_O. No idea how that was possible. My next blog (rr v 1.2) got hacked this winter lol, it obviously really bugged someone ☜(ˆ▽ˆ)! And now I am here. Some serious misfortune with my blogs, but still here ≧◉◡◉≦!
My next thing on my to-do list (it has been all the way) is to improve style-wise. I will never give up my quirky, relaxed style, but I can deffo do it better as well.

Anyways, I'm leaving you with yesterday's OOTD pics. I'm still on the almost-cannot-be-arsed-mode, but at least I upgrade my simple outfits with some nice lil accessories. I wore dang old shorts, husband's tee shirt (he didn't notice that I wore his tee when we were hanging out) and those sneakers that are comfy. This time it was the R2D2-bag that saved a boring look. The round sunnies help, btw and the look became a lil bit spacey. Or actually I just look like a space alien, but aliens look spacey, at least the ones that I have seen (they are not many, tho).

OOTD:
Tee: hubby's
Shorts: Roxy
Sneakers: Vintage (90's)
Artoo bag : ebay
Sunnies : Glitter

My overgrown hair is still being a bit of a hassle. It's too short and layered to make any proper hairdos, but too long to leave it like it is.. Now it's just long enuff for pigtails and double buns. Grow fast! Faster!!

Will be back after midsummer fest (Juhannus that is in finnish).

Have a great time, everyone ≧✯◡✯≦ !

Hey ho!

Okay, I guess I have enuff of power to make a blog post now (─‿‿─). I was thinking I'd rest today, but I didn't since the weather was super, and my friend asked me out - deal ≧◠◡◠≦ .
If I look tired in the pics, that coz of travelling exhaustion and besides the pics were take after a long day out.
I was feeling girly for once, wore a dress woohoo! Just that I pair everything with sneakers nowadays (I cannot go *super* girly a blink (>‿◠).) I wore one of my fave dresses. I have bought it from a thrift store and the fabric seems to be vintage altho the model of the dress hints that it's been made not so long ago. I like the pattern and the color and I guess it looks best accessorized with white. I happened to have socks that match the combo, ha ≧◉◡◉≦ !

Note my supa dupa cute fabric bag, I have been shopping a bit and the bag is from tiger.dk !
(They have the cheapest and most horrid fabric bags on planet, lucky me I like horrid things!)

Accessories. The necklace is trifted and the pink mochi is from Japan, it used to be a charm but I have made it into a necklace.

Dress : thrifted

My bud and I were in the park and I now noticed from the pics that we had the same color theme, apart from that she has a proper suntan and I don't.(‐^▽^‐)

The weekend we spent in our summer cottage. It was nice, even if we didn't get lots of sunshine, just a couple of hours every day but at least DJ could sunbathe. Thunder was once. (Thanks Thor! Last time thunder was like every day when we were there). Anyways, heating the sauna, listening to a battery radio, rowing a boat and eating outside grilled food is always nice. There is no electricity there, and when we arrived I noticed I had almost no charge in my phone's battery and also my camera battery was dead (Yup I'm really smart to no check out that sorta things before leaving from home) and that riiillyy sucked since there were heaps of things I would have loved to photograph. But there are not so many pics and all that exist are of DJ enjoying the landscape (≧◡≦). After taking these my phone battery said bye. DJ likes to stay in the porch, he doesn't try go out since he gets scared when there is no roof above him lol. I guess he gets freaked out by birds or something! But he wears his collar and lead just in case.

Oww stylish me (♥♥,)
I even wore Crocs!

Will be gone for now. Catch you (っ◕‿◕)っ ♥

Hi fellas!

Another style post. It has been sorta awesome weather, it has been sunny and hot but at the same time it was raining. I like that, even nicer if we'd get some thunder!

I have 2 new pieces in my closet that I took out today, I was in the comfy dressing mode again because of the weather. There is no point for me to look so styled if I will get soaked when I go out, anyways. That's the reason for the lack of make up as well. (Ahh what I'm trying to explain. I'm just lazy as heck ʃ(˘▽ƪ)!)

The top came recently, it's from chicnova. Chicnova was a new thing for me, I got a voucher from Big Hair Loud Mouth's giveaway (Thank you again Yuleena (っ◔◡◔)っ ♥) and spent it in 2 tops, one of them being a Rolling Stones one- the 2 most important dudes in my life are fans of Rolling Stones, my father and my husband, so there is no way I could have avoided hearing the RS and started liking them.
Will show off the other top in another outfit post ≧◠◡◠≦.  I was really pleased with the tops, they look really good in person. They were also shipped on a timely manner considering that they came all the way to Finland. The sizing is rather small but I was aware of that already.

The tricky part are the pants. I have had them in my closet for quite a while, but I didn't really know how to style them. I like the pyjama pants trend (I have always liked huge big comfy pants) but I don't really want to look like I went out in my jammies so nothing too loud and nothing too cute could be matched with them. So I went for the band top and ballerina flats (I tried on sneakers, but I looked like a kid with that combo). The sequin beanie is there coz my hair doesn't look exactly great when it gets wet.
The pants are from ebay, seller hammerhiroko - nice service that was!

Note there are spikes on the sides of the pants ≧◡≦

OOTD:
Top: Chicnova

Hi buds!

When the sun is shining I'm quite lazy to blog but today it seems to be thunder in sight so I can stay on the PC and write some stuff :)

1st of all yay. We're going to Japan on December. We were supposed to go earlier but there were some changes in the plan, but anyway yay :).

This is a pure style post, I have a couple of topics in my mind to write about but I shall post this 1st :)
Yesterday it was *super* hot, almost 30 c, and I guess you can notice how shiny my face is. The heat and humidity also makes my hair into a big hot mess :D.
Anyways, since I noticed I can actually wear a dress without feeling too twee or like a little girl (I guess I'm a bit insecure about my girly side. I pull off the tomboy style with confidence but dresses are a bit tricky), well I didn't die wearing that dress few days ago so here goes another dress.
Before I used to get bashed for my tomboy style (and my looks in general) a lot - and that made me utterly defiant and I thought I will never wear that feminine stuff, but it's been years now and I have got love and attention being a tomboy (or a freak :D) and looking like I do, so *now I can* try some girly looks ;).

A scarf is an awesome thing with these weather, it tones down the messy hair at least a little plus a cute one works as a nice accessory.

The colors of this dress give me the nautical vibe so accessorized it with a whale :)

OOTD:
Dress: H&M (old)
Sneakers: ebay
Bag: Indian Rose (old)
Necklace: ebay
Scarf: from Japan

Btw it's gonna be my birthday this weekend and I have no clue what shall we do :). I'm bad with birthdays. I have a plan for my next birthday and that is the next Transformers movie. Seeing the Transformers has been our tradition for my birthday since we were in Japan :). Maybe I should check what else is out, perhaps some cutie booboo nice little dinosaurs in 3D if the Jurassic Park is playing that day.

Okies, off to read some of your blogs and writing about the other topics I was thinking about :)

Catch ya!

Fashion blogging - is it about money?

$

1st of all, I'm linking up the person whose post made me write this.
Queen Ariel expressed in her blog that she is fed up with the blogs that are full off super expensive clothes, accessories and other things, bloggers whose life, judging from the blog, always seems like a million bucks and besides these blogs tend to be very similar to each other. Those superficial, big-budget blogs tend to be on the top of the blog lists in our country and Queen Ariel was wondering what makes them so special.
(Queen Ariel writes in finnish so that was my short sum-up of what was her point).

I decided to write my views on this topic, too.

1st of all, is this true?

Yup.
For some reason it is like that. Bloggers who expose new stuff continuously, who have logo accessories and brand clothes and who tend to post really fancy and expensive stuff, seem to have a lot of followers. I'm not saying they are all the same, of course they are different persons, but some similarities in the blogs do indeed exist (certain "must-have" brands, trending foods and restaurant, trips, expensive make up, good, expensive cameras to have a great photo quality etc).
A small-budget blogger can write really well and /or have an awesome sense of style, but it often takes longer time of the audience to notice her/him.

Because people like fancy stuff. People want luxurious life. Majority of people long for things that are out of their reach, or very hardly available. They enjoy seeing items that they consider pretty but that they cannot have, a lifestyle that they consider wonderful but they don't have it.
Did you read Barbie comics as a kid? Lovely clothes, nice cars, a perfect home, a pretty heroine and things always ended up well. The same goes for the luxury blogs.
Since the blogger doesn't write about her sweaty socks on the floor, tell that her cat pooped on the carpet, admit that she got turned down by her crush, post bad hair day pics, express insecurities and bad feelings but instead she posts just all nice lovely happy fancy stuff, the blog gives an image of an ideal life. It's easy for a reader to think that the blogger's life is enviably great and she always looks enviably gorgeous. And in my opinion, using common sense, everyone should understand that it's not the whole truth but there are sides in the blogger's life that she doesn't want to expose. Yes, that kind of blog can be considered as shallow, but it's their choice.
These superficial "ideal life" big-budget blogs can offer few things for the reader, depending of her attitude.
1- Entertainment. Seeing pretty things, that is nice huh?
2- Inspiration. People who are always look good and reach for their goals can encourage others to do the same if they want to. It depends on the blogger tho. A stuck-up blogger who thinks she is better than  the others, most likely isn't very inspiring. A down-to-earth blogger who is kind to others can be really encouraging.
3- Envy. It's easy to envy people who you think have better lives than you. However, if the envy leads to malicious or sad feelings, it's destructive and a reality check will do good- we are all human and money and a pop blog will not grant happiness.
4- Just fashion. We read fashion magazines to see what is new in the fashionsphere- these bloggers can offer us the same info if we like their style.

A person who blogs with a bigger budget can do a couple of more things - ads (Google etc ads bring traffic) and secondly - some bloggers buy followers or Facbook likes. I'm not telling that any top bloggers from my country do that, but I know bloggers who actually have done that. The image of a popular blog makes people easily follow it ("wow, many people like this, this must be good"-phenomenon).

Okay, sure many of us not that well-heeled bloggers find this unfair that the ones who have the bucks also have the followers.
BUT why are we blogging, again? Each of us for our own, personal reasons, right? To share things that we want to share. To write about "our thing". What you are interested in, what you have a passion for. That way, during time, perhaps a long time, the followers who are interested in your content will come.
We shouldn't be trying to please the masses. We shouldn't be longing for being someone else.
By being yourself, you will find your audience that may not be as huge as someone else's, but they are the people who are interested in the things that you post. They are your audience whom you should appreciate - not worry about the number.
Sure, some of us are blogging in hopes to get income, but we shall remember that the content is first, and then comes the income which means that there is no easy way. You gotta prove yourself several times, interact with others and it still takes a long time before you will get anything much. So blogging purely for income doesn't really make sense, since most likely it will not work - 1st there must be passion to the things you write about.

Okay, it sure has been a long text.
If you are still awake, let me express my own opinion on these blogs.

I like to read blogs that have interesting content. I follow at least one girl who seems to use money very shamelessly on her looks and mostly posts only fashion stuff -at least she doesn't tell about negative things in her life- and that is purely because I love her style. Most blogs I follow are by average Joes and Joelles with an average home and an average budget. I also like several  "student budget" blogs that offer nice tips how to save on your beauty stuff, food trips etc.
So, for me it doesn't really matter if the blogger screws thousands of bucks just on one outfit, just to show it off in the blog - if I like the style and the personality of the blogger.
The question how many followers a blog has doesn't matter to me at all. 2 followers is as good as 20 000, if I like the blog.

And here comes the question - why do these big budget blogs bug people?
This one I cannot answer and that's why I asked it.

Do you like to read blogs of people who are not afraid to screw money and show it off, or does it annoy you?

What do you think about blogs that give the image of a perfect life?

And that was all.

Hi guys!

Who is using Vine? I might be late since Vine has been around for some time already, but I downloaded it just yesterday and like how it allows you to take "living pics" !
My photo quality is not the best as I'm just using an old model of iPhone. However it's a nice app!

Here are a couple of pics I took!
These are my 1st videos by this app, had to learn how to use it (even tho it's easy) so xcuse if they're not very pro ;)

Ahoy

A print tee post.
As you may have noticed, I have a thing for print tops. My newest -and def one of the favest- one came from Punketrock just a little time ago.
Wish to give a happy shout out to Punketrock for the super fast shipping, cool top and reasonable pricing! (This is not an ad, this is a customer's opinion).

Print tops are pretty much versatile for me, I wear them almost always unless I wear a dress.  The skirt I was wearing feels pretty much slutty but this top makes it rather rocker than hooker.

As I might have mentioned before I'm a fan of David Bowie and his alter ego Ziggy Stardust and that's why I like the print of this top. And if someone is about to mention, I already know that I look like him since I have heard that "few" times and even if Bowie is awesome, I would prefer to look like Elizabeth Taylor or Marilyn Monroe. Thanks!

What else, if you are a reader who lives in Finland, you prolly have a shop called Tiger.dk around. If you live elsewhere, you can check for Tiger.dk here and if you are a glitter loving magpie like me, then their jewellery collection is worth checking out. I have bought a nice pile of funky jewellery, especially necklaces for few little coins from there and this necklace is one of them.

Creepy face O_O !

Lately we have often been "eating out", meaning that we pack our home-made dinner in the box, grab some Coca Cola, cider or beer, stuff everything in a bag, walking 500 meters to one of the nearby parks and sit outside and eat. It's more fun than eating at home but cheaper than eating in a restaurant. And healthier than most fast foods x). Today we sat in the river harbor and spotted that cool sauna-ship. It's a sauna that floats on the river and people can take a sauna and have dinner and drinks there. And t goes fast :D!
Way cool, I want to take that one sometime.

I might have said this earlier today, but have good weekend, everyone :)

Hey ho!

Guess what, it's my birthday. It's been exactly 34 years since my mom and dad "went to a warehouse and bought me". So I have been having some cake and stuff :). I also got a really awesome gift from my hubby but I will post pics of it tomorrow (or when I make my next post) to prevent photo- over haeaviness ;).

Yesterday I dropped by to Tampere Suvi Vintage market, I meet a bud over there and got me a couple of items. It's a very interesting happening, most people over there were dressed in vintage stuff and there were lots of vintage / repro clothes and items for sale plus a band playing old-style music and some more entertainment. Pics follow in this post~

Anyways, OOTD pics. This dress was a birthday gift from my mom. Very approved, as it can be easily accessorized into so many different styles. I'm not sure where she bought it (she told me, but I forgot
Ö_Ö)

^My hair is getting long so I'm trying to invent tricks how to make it look like something else than "McGyver forgot to visit the barber" - mullet. A scarf works pretty well.

OOTD:
Dress : Not sure ö_ö
Bat bag: ModCloth
Bat tights: Ebay
Creepers: Ebay

Here are some pics from yesterday, from Suvi Vintage.

I got this luvly wind-up toy robot from there, his estimated age is around 50 years old and he is adrobss, he still walks and is in super condition, just like a young metal dude <3 br="">

Isn't he cool :)

Hi fellas!

I'm on a Tumblr mode ... just no Blogger ><! (Don't ask me why ><, I'll tell you sooner or later).
You can follow my Tumblr blog on Bloglovin or on Tumblr. (I have 2 Tumblr pages, one is a blog and the other one is just a random pics thingy.

Will be back to Blogger at some point ^^

I here I am again :)

Sorry for my long hiatus. I had to re-think about my blogging a little bit, things that I want to do and things that I do not want to do. To be honest, besides to that my Blogger was constantly bugged and I couldn't upload pics (not sure if it will work now, at least it works atm but let's see :D), I was afraid that I was pushing myself, becoming too commercial and forcing myself to write when I didn't really feel like. I didn't really practice what I'm preaching - my blog is supposed to entertain me in the 1st place and everything else is a bonus. Throw in my perfectionism and there we go ;P.
Anyway after being off for a while, I feel more fresh and I'm happily back :)

We went to see the ancient Chinese Terracotta Warriors today. They are visiting my city. The exhibition had a lot of treasures from the ancient China but these statues were really, really impressive!

Not sure if the warrior was as impressed about me, ha.

There were some other exhibitions in the same building and we saw them on the same go. One was natural sciences, and besides to skeletons and other dead critters therethere was an "animal scale" that you can step on and it will tell you which animal you are according to your weight.

I am a "catfish of the bigger side".
I already disappeared from the inland waters from my country in the 1800's, and I have a big mouth and a nice moustache :D

My OOTD pics didn't end up well due to the dark day and windy weather but posting anyway :).

OOTD:
Dotted wide pants vintage (80's), everything else old and random.

My hair is in the horrible stage of growing out the short thingy. Growing out bangs is super duper hyper horrible. My hair will look horrid for at least one year methinks. Everytime I want to grab scissors I must visualize one year ahead and myself with nice flowy non-messy locks that are hairdo-able. Unlike this Vince Neil-thingy.

My husband is following the results of election in Japan, they have one finnish candidate, Martti Tsurunen, who has usually been doing okay but not sure how he did this time. And yes I'm making jokes about the "election" and the japanese tendency to mess up with letters "R" and "L". LOL. I mean ROR.

#tired :)

Later fellas :)

Oh, and linking up Darling MK's giveaway. She has some super adorbs things to give out, in the pic there is just one of the many prizes :)

Fellows,

Big thanks for your messages missing me while I was come and welcoming me back :). I was actually surprised, happily of course :)!

Thing numero #1,
I read a blog post by Pinkkis and I was really honored that she listed me as the only style blog she reads.. coz she likes me as a person, hehe :D.
Her wish was to hear more about our life but the truth is that I pretty much have no life. My idea of fun is playing online games (I don't do console stuff any more coz they cost and they would get me even more hooked), reading books [or gossip magazines], surfing the web and if I go wild, I might take a walk to the nearby coffee shop and drop by to the thrift store. Yep. Once or twice a week I meet my buds and we go to a coffee shop or now, on summertime, take drinks (1 or 2) in a park :). Crazy huh :). But yes, If I get out of control and do something else, I will be sure to post about it :).

Thing numero #2,
Call me a lout, but I cannot understand monarchies with no political function, and therefore I cannot understand the hype about the Royal Baby (people do breed, ya know) (all animals do!). Anyway, congratulations and I am sure the baby looks just like his dad, at least hair-wise :).

Then to the infamous style part.
I got this vintage (1960's) "reptile"-skin (of course it's fake) bag from a friend and tried to create some sorta modern meets retro rocker - look.

I have came to the conclusion that while growing out my hair, it just looks better with a scarf on it. So you will prolly see me wearing scarves for 6 months ahead.
A long tall one is at least some variety for the eternal bandanas.

I might have liked what I put together, but the weather was way horrible and therefore it felt just slutty. It's funny how the weather will change the whole image of an outfit (at least in my mind). On a sunny day I would have felt cute in this but since it was windy, cold and it started to rain, I looked like a tramp looking for a shelter.

OOTD:
Tee: ONLY
Skirt: Random old
Bag: Vintage (60's)
Creepers: Ebay
Spade Necklace: Backstreet (Helsinki)

Cannot save you from this screenshot, and then I'm off being aware that this post has expressed very bad taste in many ways :)

Posting some dolls since I didn't post any or a while :)

These are not vintage- I have long been more into vintage dolls but some modern ones are too cute to resist.
I fell in love with these pretty alien gals, Novi Stars.

My husband bought me the 1st one as a birthday present, she is the purple one and her name is Ari Roma. Her head is scented, when the bubble is removed her hair smells like bubble gum.

The blue one is Una Verse and she has glitter inside her body. She was an ebay bargain.

There are several of these on the market and of course I feel I should have all of 'em and if not all, then at least many.

I wonder are these pop amongst kids (these are not collectors stuff actually but made for lil gals) or are these just a bit too creepy, IMO these faces are creepier than Monster High dolls, which in my books is a good thing of course. Really curious to see will these stay on market and become big. (I will love them, no matter what ;))

Above are Una Verse and her glitter legs on a Vine vid.

Cute huh ;)

One day in Hellsinki

Been off to Helsinki for one day, it's quite stupid that I go there pretty seldom even tho it's just a short'ish train trip away. Well yesterday I did and actually it was Sirkku's idea that we'd just hang around in there.

Bubble Tea in the railway station for starters.

Did some normal shopping in the normal shops at first (you know shopping centers and chain stores and and grabbed some discounted kitsch) but out main destination was Hietsu secondhand market. I have been there before, but either I had forgot, or then it had grown, but boy it was HUGE. It's like a paradise for a thrifting maniac or a vintage freak. It was so big that we were out of money and tired after we had walked thru *half* of it and I was so hyper that I forgot to take a pic from there -.- . Anyways, later on I will show off  pics of what I bought. It obviously took us hours in there since we left to there around noon and then it was suddenly like 4 pm and we noticed it was past lunchtime and we were sorta hungry.

So we took a picnic and pics on the sea shore.

If it's not climb-able, you can try to climb it anyway.

Since I almost always do archive what I wore, here are the outfit pics.
Nothing specially stylish and works on a long heavy day out.

If I suddenly quit blogging, that's coz Sirkku killed me for posting the 2nd pic. Or sent me a computer virus. Or something. But hey, I don't look pretty on that one either. I look more dorky than her! :D

Shopping bags UTD
(I'm taking a pic of a bug)

Here it is

As if it wasn't enuff with the few hours supporting the capitalistic chain markets (not only, we dropped my to a tiny ethnic indie shop by russian owners too and I bought a toy that talks and sings in russian :--)) and then moving on to more virtuous ways (yeap, say what you say, prime minister) of consuming and shopping recycled things from private human individuals, we decided we are not tired enuff but moved our butts and our shopping bags to Linnanmäki amusement park.

Tried an UFO catcher twice, won nothing but doesn't really matter as our item quota was sorta full, wondered if we should take a ride on some of those gadgets but decided not to (no we're not scared, we just decided not to!) so just took a walk around.

Mirror house offered some amusement, mainly coz we're vain and there we had an excuse to stare at ourselves. Of course the fat- skinny- and alien head- warps were a bonus.

We were about to eat there but we didn't coz the lines to the restaurants and snack stands were too long. No, we were not about to eat this one for real. For real!

Back to the center of the city, wondered where we would invest the remains of our energy and the answer was the Hard Rock Cafe baby. (We had to seek for it a lil' bit. I remembered where it was but we didn't see the entrance so I took I remembered wrong. Then we went elsewhere to look and it was nowhere and we came back and saw the entrance. Tired?)

Hard Rock Cafe Helsinki is a baby, coz it has been opened recently and well.. I feel it's still a baby. It's nice, but it doesn't have those mementos of artists yet like Hard Rock Cafes tend to have. Anyway, no complaints, way nice.

..and it was as well the point of the evening when the tiredness hit me and I refuse to behave.

I was longing for shopping in Hard Rock Cafe too, yup, Hard Rock Cafe logo products are hillbilly and I like them that way, but I didn't find so many unique items. I hope Helsinki Hard Rock Cafe will get some more Helsinki - only stuff. Meanwhile, I bought just a Helsinki - edition pin that it actually pretty cool, a viking.

And then I kindly said to my husband that he can have it ;p.

I was back to Tampere at 00:42 (came by train) and for an old granny like me that's late (hahahaa kidding, I'm always up late :D). Anyways, thanks to Sirkku for the idea, had fun!
Today is sunny but my legs are hurting of all that walking. And the last days of my summer vacation are rolling ;0

Buds,

Have you ever noticed these controversies that happen too often :

-You are allowed to be stupid and mean, but you are not allowed to be less than "good looking".  (THIS)

-You are are looked down in you are unemployed and use social benefits paid by taxes, but you are looked up if you have happened to born into a royal family and therefore take a HUGE advantage of the taxpayer's money.

Nope don't get me wrong, I'm not hinting to George being a natural born leech, not referring to the kiddo at all. Just that I'm really fed up with the fact that the unemployed are constantly being bashed on "using the taxpayers' money" - if you feel an urge to talk that way, please take a look at the statistics and see how many open jobs there are, how many unemployed there are and then figure out if it's possible for everyone to get employed. And it's not only the economical depression - it's that the whole structure of working life is changing. While before everything had to be man-made, now things are more and more automatized - and there are more people.
At some point the working day / week would have to be shortened to offer more jobs, or there will have to be a basic income to offer a chance for entrepreneurship, make it possible to work as a craftsman or try one's wings as an artist or then something else I didn't come to think about (nope, not the capitalistic way) or otherwise things will regress. Badly.

Okay, that was about it. Just felt I should tell those things >:)

Outfit archives, I got this space rocket skirt from ebay [southpanda-8] some time ago, for cheap! and it was on my tumblr already but as I wore it yesterday Imma show it off here too.

The lil robot is from Japan.

Then I got this toy from the Russian ethnic shop in Helsinki :--) If you know the Cheburashka animated kids series, he is the Crocodile Gena from that one :--).

Uploading a couple of Vine vids, put the sounds on if you want to hear what he says lol :D

Lol that's too creepy and IMO cute :D I wanted to buy Cheburashka too but would have been too expensive to get both. Anyways, "Chebura-shika" is pop in Japan, maybe I will get one from there altho that is not the original russian one ;).

Do you know these cartoons / characters?

Have a happy weekend, everyone :)

Bangs 1 - Lara 0

I have been telling that I'm trying to grow my hair and at the same grow out my bangs. Well, I lied. Today after the shower I took scissors and cut my bangs back to the good old length that they usually have been.
I was thinking that a style without bangs is easier to style and easier to maintain, but dafuq! Growing the bangs out is a pain. They are all over my face unless I use hairspray (I hate hairspray) or sort it somehow by hair pins or a hair band (I *loathe* hair pins and hairbands on my bangs).
Besides, I even look stupid without bangs. I have wrinkles on my forehead already and my face is triangle-shaped so my forehead is wide. I would look like an alien without bangs. It was great that I cut them, I'm so so happy that I don't have to grow them any more. It was a stupid whim in the beginning to start growing them out.
Great job Lara, you look great now :))
Thanks, now I have convinced myself that it was a good idea to cut the bangs ;--)

I wore my infamous skeleton tights today. Infamous they are coz I have produced a couple of style overkills with these already (no pics, won't show) and it took some consideration today what to pair them with today to avoid the super awkward look. In my case, the answer is something pretty much simple without extra ruffles and puffles and prints and accessories. If I was into the gothic / gothic lolita style these would deffo go with anything but my style is usually pretty much relaxed even if quirky.

It's awkward when you like something awkward and want to wear it even if you know that it will look awkward :/

Tights and creepers are from ebay,
necklace is Candy Geisha,
everything else is old stuff from Japan.
(oh and the white fabric bag with the lovely cute awesome uguu pretty print is from tiger.dk )

Today the postman rang the doorbell while I was taking a shower and I went to open the door naked.
(Lol I didn't. I put on clothes).
I got a couple of packages, I have been active on ebay since I might have been a tiny bit bored recently ;P. Got a jacket that you will see on my outfit posts sooner or later plus these tiny thingies:

Bounty Hunter Bossk from Star Wars. I have got more attracted to vintage characters recently, especially those that are not so common. This is 33 years old (1980) and is now enjoying his plastic life in my showcase among the other Star Wars guys.

A happy shout out for solos_shop :) !

Pros of having an old model of iPhone- cheap covers :D. Since my old iPhone cover started to get broken I got a new silicone one (my hubby actually thot it's a real c-tape when he 1st saw it xD). Really cute methinks and it was a bargain :)

Thank u 42ltd :)

Oh btw! We saw The Wolverine movie and it's deffo worth seeing. It contained some abuse of Japan, seppuku, ninjas and some other cliches mixed with some science fiction (that will make some weebs think it's all true and yes Japan is like that) but IMO well, it's just a movie (what you can really expect from a Marvel hero thingy anyway :)) it's sure worth watching! Very entertaining, didn't yawn at once during it. What made it even more fun to watch was the fact that it was filmed in Japan. Besides to being full of action, the movie was also funny in appropriate measures.

~okies, off, hungry.
